As the need for a local healthcare facility arose, a hospital committee was formed to determine location, size, and specific needs for a facility in Jefferson County.
A public meeting was held at the Jefferson County Courthouse.
Winchester was chosen as the ideal location and Glen V. Carson was named the head architect.
Construction began on a 25 bed hospital. Donations were given and stock sold at $100/share. Each share equated to one vote.
A thrift store was established by the local women of Winchester, acting as the main financial resource for the construction process.
Jefferson County Memorial Hospital was dedicated.
An addition was added to the North wing of the facility.
Two additional wings were built, creating the Long Term Care facility.
Jefferson County Memorial Hospital received the dba name of F.W. Huston Medical Center.
Renovations were completed in both the Laboratory and throughout the Hospital Nurses Station.
All Senior Living Center windows were replaced.
